So Watch Dogs, one of the most eagerly anticipated gaming titles set to come out this year, has finially hit the reviewing block, and first impressions are that it’s actually pretty good. Games are often overburdened by the hype created around them, but it seems that Ubisoft’s open world hacking, shooting and driving action titles is one to take note of.

All reviews seem to go along the same lines here. Watch Dogs has great individual parts (the hacking, the shooting, the stealth, the world immersion, the characters bar the main protagonist and even the fun driving physics.

However, they don’t necessarily come together too well, and overall the reviews say it offers a satisfying and worthwhile experience, albeit one that’s full of inconsistent moments. All mention the cliché nature of the story and characters but praise the developer for the excellent animation and voice acting – these really help the game stand out as being more than just a city-hacking-sandbox (which it kind of is anyway).

The game is now available on current- and next-gen platforms and PC.
