It looked like the days of the eccentric British automaker Bristol Cars were over in 2011 when they went bust. But under new ownership, they’re coming back next year with a new car.
Bristol Cars announced Friday their first new car since 2003 would arrive next year. Working under the name “Pinnacle” right now, this is the first new product since Bristol was purchased in 2011 by Kamkorp. The new car is also being launched to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the company.
Few details were released about Project Pinnacle, but Bristol did say they’re working on a range-extender electric luxury sedan using Frazer-Nash technologies. That sounds interesting.
Bristol is also making a big investment in its historic London showroom on Kensington High Street. And to stir up even more interest in the brand, they’ve announced a whole line of merchandise of clothes, keychains and lots of other Bristol-branded stuff. Normally this stuff is pretty boring, but when it’s covered in old Bristols, it becomes kind of cool.
But not as cool as a new car from this odd little company. Best of luck to them on actually making it another 70 years.
