No, Robert de Niro will keep his role, because we’re talking about another upcoming movie about Il Drake’s life.

It seems that Enzo’s biography is the latest trend to envelop the imagination of film producers, as this is the second announced movie dedicated to Ferrari’s memoir.

That said, after two awesome screenings destined for the hardcore petrolheads – Rush and Senna – we’re waiting to be baffled by not one, but two upcoming movies featuring the fate of one of the most influential motoring personalities of all times.

Christian Bale reportedly said yes to the role of the long awaited, Michael Mann directed film. In fact, Mann has been working on the film for approximatly 15 years now and there’s no denying the movie will be a passion-driven project targeted at those who want to learn more about Enzo’s life.

According to Deadline: “The action takes place in 1957, a year where Enzo’s passion, failure, success, death and life all collided”. It may sound dramatic, but it actually was an intensely emotional year for Ferrari’s founder.

1957 was the year following Alfredo Ferrari’s untimely passing – Enzo’s heir and beloved son; moreover, 1957 was the last year of the classic, outrageous and notorious Mille Miglia race, which was banned after two fatal crashes, one involving a 4.2-litre Ferrari 335S that took the lives of Spanish driver Alfonso de Portago, his co-driver and nine other spectators.

The picture is set to begin filming next summer.
