Ssangyong’s latest compact crossover, the Tivoli, is now offered with the option of AWD.

The new Ssangyong Tivoli 4×4 can be ordered only with the diesel engine option, paired either with a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The 1.6-litre e-XDi 160 unit delivers 115ps between 3400 and 4000rpm and 221lb ft (300Nm) of torque between 1500 and 2500rpm.

Fuel economy is rated at a combined 60.1mpg UK with the manual transmission and 47.9mpg UK with the automatic, while the CO2 emission level is 123g/km (2WD manual: 113g/km).

The all-wheel drive system delivers 100 per cent of the engine’s torque to the front wheels under normal driving conditions, distributing the power between the axles when it detects any loss of grip. There is also a lock mode to split the torque evenly between axles (50-50) at speeds below 25mph. The rear suspension now features a multi-link setup.

With a ground clearance of 167mm and an approach angle of 20.5 degrees, a departure angle of 28.0 degrees and a ramp angle of 17.0 degrees, the Ssangyong Tivoli 4×4 is easily one of the most capable off-roaders in the compact crossover segment.

Prices for the Ssangyong Tivoli 4×4 start at £17,100 in the UK market and all the way up to £19,500 for the automatic version.
