Recent scoops coming from China are suggesting that the test mule you see here is for VW’s upcoming 7-seater crossover previewed by the Crossblue Concept.

Dressed in a cobbled up body from the previous-gen Audi Q7, Chinese media think it’s riding on the VW Group’s MQB platform. The same sources say that the midsized crossover is believed to enter production in China by the end of next year.

Nevertheless, since this mule is still in an early stage of development, we cannot say for sure whether it will turn into a production version of the CrossBlue or something entirely different.

What we can do is remind you that the Crossblue Concept was unveiled in 2013 sporting a 2+3+2 seating layout and measured 4,986mm long (196.3in), 2,014mm wide (79.3in) and 1,732mm tall (68.2in).
