Sources indicate that Ford could bring a hotter version of their Fiesta ST in Geneva, a car that would feature both engine and chassis tweaks.

Even though the American automaker has yet to comment on the possibility of an even faster Fiesta, Autocar thinks that this “hotter hot hatch” is on its way and that it will be called the ST Plus, which is to say that it wouldn’t be a full RS model.

If such a car is to be revealed in a month’s time, it should feature a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, which at the present time is good for 182 HP, a 6.9 second 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time and a top speed of 220 km/h (136 mph).

Other likely additions would be a sharper chassis and a more aggressive bodykit, though overall it’s power output that hot hatch owners crave most of all – and the current Fiesta ST has already been tuned to 215 PS and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) thanks to the Mountune kit.

Whether that means that this Fiesta “ST Plus” would pack even more firepower, is as uncertain as the reveal itself. If Ford added more power to such a light car, it could end up stepping on the Focus ST’s toes in terms of performance and that might not be the smartest move – seen as how the Mountune Fiesta ST is already just 0.2 seconds shy of a Focus ST’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time.

As for right now, we do know Ford is planning on revealing a new model in Barcelona. However, that should be the facelifted Kuga SUV, which means we’ve still got a few more weeks before we might find out what their plans are for Geneva.
