A vintage Aston Martin is something special, a prototype vintage Aston Martin though is something extremely cool to have in your garage.

Dave Adams is the proud owner of this prototype 1957 Aston Martin MK III which was not only used for official development purposes but also entered the Monte Carlo rally.

Petrolicious tells us the story of this beautifully nasty Aston, a model that represents a big chapter in the brand’s history as it was the first one to wear the characteristic front grille and to come with disc brakes all around among others.

“When Ian Fleming wrote Goldfinger in 1957, the gadget-filled Aston Martin, it was a Mk III,” Adams also points out. “The movie was made in 1964,” he says. “Sean Connery drives a DB5, but James Bond drives a MK III.”

Being a classic car fan since his high-school days, Adams recognized from the first moment he laid eyes on the MK III just how special it is. “I would call it a nice used sports car,” he says. “I sort of think it’s been art directing itself over these years. To me, this car’s perfectly awful—I love it the way it is.”
