Formula E Adds Races In Hong Kong, Marrakech, Brussels, Montreal & New York

If you’ve been hoping to catch a race in the FIA Formula E Championship, but haven’t found yourself close enough to a host city, we have good news for you. The electric racing series has announced the calendar for its forthcoming third season, and it includes more races than ever before, including several new events in places it has never run before.

New to the expanded calendar for the 2016-17 season will be races in Hong Kong, Marrakech, Brussels, Montreal and New York. What’s more is that the last two events will be double-headers, replacing the previous back-to-back races in London’s Battersea Park.

London won’t be the only city dropped from the calendar for next season, though. Putrajaya, Malaysia, won’t be returning. Neither will Punta del Este, Uruguay, or the race in Long Beach, California. At least that’s how it stands at the moment, as there are still two TBA slots that have yet to be filled. All told, the new calendar expands to 14 races in 12 locations, up from 10 in 9 this season and 11 in 10 the year before.

Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Paris and Berlin are all carrying over for next season, and Monaco marks its return, having started in the first season but dropped for the second.

The Marrakech race in Morocco marks the first time that Formula E will visit Africa. It has yet to compete in Australia or the Middle East, but will race once again in Europe, the Far East, North America, and South America.
