Thanks to professional race car driver Gunnar Jeanette making good use of the Porsche 908’s 350 HP, we get to see what it’s like to drive this legendary machine from the driver’s perspective.

Before you hit play, make sure your speaker volume is relatively low because the sound this 3.0-liter flat-8 engine makes is borderline deafening, so we can only imagine what it must be like from inside the cockpit.

Midway through the action, you’ll see the 908 chase down a Porsche 917 – which is a faster car, especially in a straight line. Eventually though, the more determined driver “wins”.

Those of you who’d like to know more about the 908, we could start by telling you that from 1969 it was mainly known as the 908/2 (as is this particular example). Back in the day, it had a lot of success against rivals such as the Ferrari 312P, thanks in part to its low weight (about 100kg/200lbs less) which came after Porsche removed the roof and the long tails.

Of course, you could just forget about the numbers and just enjoy that screaming flat-eight and Mr. Jeanette’s driving skills courtesy of his visor cam and rear-facing camera.
