Do you remember that rather famous scene from Furious 7 where a number of cars parachuted out of a plane? Well those scenes were inspired by what the military has been doing for years, sending all manner of vehicles into the sky around the world.
In this fascinating video showing just how the military drops of Humvees in war zones and training facilities, we get to see the cars plummeting to the earth and making surprisingly gentle landings, despite each off-roader weighing over 5500 pounds (2500 kg).
As soon as the Humvees roll out of the rear door, the parachute deploys just a couple of seconds before the next 4×4 flies after it. It really is like a silent symphony in the skies as they blissfully float down to earth like little gifts from heaven.
Rather amazingly, the Humvee has been produced since 1984 and in total, about 281,000 have been built seeing service all around the world.
