This rather clean-looking 1973 Datsun 240Z recently went to the highest bidder on eBay, who only needed to spend $14,100 in order to get their hands on a car that some consider as being iconic.
According to the ad, the previous owner painted the car and did some work underneath, patching up a few weak areas of the floor with metal. The chrome is also original, despite showing minor scratches and pitting.
Inside, this 240Z looks clean, with a full dash cap, replacement door panels and seat covers. There are a few sections that show some wear and tear (or cracks), but overall it seems to match the exterior rather well.
Technically, the owner says the car “starts quickly and runs nicely, with no smoke or funny noises and good oil pressure.” New components include the brake drums, wheel cylinders and the master cylinder – though a new clutch “will be needed soon.”
The car also supposedly “goes down the road straight with no shimmies,” which is exactly what you’d want from a classic such as the 240Z – a car some people would be more inclined to drive than to simply keep on display or in a garage.
