This is our first sighting of the upcoming Mercedes AMG GLC 63 Coupe, with our spies spotting a prototype being tested in northern Sweden.

We already have spotted several times the ‘regular’ GLC63 during its development cycle and it was only a matter of time before our spies caught the Coupe version.

But the different bodystyle isn’t the only difference between the two models; despite the camouflage, it’s clear that this prototype features a front grille that looks exactly the same with the one in the AMG GT-R model. Combine this with a pair of way more aggressive front and rear bumpers and we can already imagine how intimidating the final car will be on the road.

The chassis will be upgraded accordingly, featuring the necessary huge brakes, sportier suspension and the obligatory quad exhaust pipes that are known to produce one of the most satisfying soundtracks known to man.

Under the bonnet will of course live AMG’s twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 which powers almost every AMG model in the current range. Mercedes will offer two power outputs, just like the C63 model, with the ‘base’ model to pack 469hp and a more powerful S variant with an output of 503hp. Both versions will send their power to all four wheels as standard.

Mercedes is expected to launch the GLC 63 Coupe sometime in the second half of 2017.
