Police have apparently caught an illegal alien just outside of Roswell.
The bizarre incident occurred in Georgia and not in New Mexico as an Alpharetta Public Safety officer pulled over a Ford Mustang for traveling at 84 mph (135 km/h). This is a pretty typical occurrence in most parts of the country but this particular incident is notable as the car’s passenger was a life-size alien doll.
The driver didn’t offer an explanation for why he was travelling with the alien but a post on the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page seems to suggest the driver could have to using the extraterrestrial to be less noticeable when traveling in high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes.
Regardless of his reasons, Fox News reports the driver was let off with warning to slow down. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the officer was cracking up about the situation and took a few pictures of the otherworldly passenger.
While it’s impossible to tell if the driver was using the alien to blend into HOV lanes, the Georgia Department of Public Safety website says people who violate the HOV lane law are guilty of a misdemeanor which is punishable by a maximum $75.00 fine for the first offense. This can climb to $150.00 and one point on a driver’s record for a fourth offence.
