Polaris Recalls 24,000 Slingshots Over Seat Belt And Seat Slider Issues

Polaris is recalling 2015-2018 Slingshot models in the United States due to a seat assembly problem that affects approximately 24,000 units.

During tests, the company discovered that a bracket anchoring the seat belt and seat back may have been improperly welded. Furthermore, variations during the vehicle’s assembly could prevent proper latching of the seat slider, Left Lane News reports.

In its official statement, Polaris said the two issues could increase the risk of injury.

“If the seat slides unexpectedly, this may increase the risk of a loss of control or the risk of injury in the event of a crash. If the seat belt buckle and seat back dislodge from the seat base, this may increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash,” Polaris said.

This isn’t the first Slingshot recall. In early 2015, the vehicle was recalled for a possible steering rack fault and later that same year, 10,000 examples were recalled over faulty headlights.
