Alfa Romeo has built some brutish hot hatches in the past, none more impressive than the 147 GTA. However, none of them can hold a candle to this one-off V8-powered Giulietta that’s currently under construction.

We stumbled across this image on Facebook with the car being built in the UK.

In all likelihood, this potent Alfa Romeo Giulietta won’t be used as a street vehicle and instead be limited to racetracks and high-profile hillclimb events. The car’s V8 comes from an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and even if it’s not tweaked and fettled, will deliver 444 hp and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) from its 4.7-liters. We fully expect the powertrain to undergo some modifications, however.

Will it be rear-wheel drive?

There is a multitude of other modifications that distinguish this Giulietta from the regular road car. For example, the car features a bespoke front clip that incorporates flared front wheel arches. We can also spot new wheel arches at the rear which are hiding a set of large racing wheels and tires. A rear wing and rear diffuser are also likely if the car is indeed turned into a track or hillclimb monster.

As impressive as this vehicle is, it’s doesn’t get our hearts racing quite like news that a mid-engine supercar is being developed by the Italian car manufacturer does. Details about the vehicle remain scarce but reports suggest it could use the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 of the Giulia Quadrifoglio and pair it with an electric motor to lift power towards the 800 hp mark.
