Nissan Kicks Surf Concept Was Created With Surfers, For Surfers

That’s a whole lot of ‘surf’ in the title, but then again, it describes Nissan’s latest concept the best.

Created by the company’s Latin American studio, it, as you might have noticed already by its name, is based on Nissan’s first global model launched in Latin America: the Kicks subcompact crossover.

Launched in Sao Paulo, it was developed with input from brothers Alejo and Santiago Muniz, who also happen to be surfing champions.

Nissan claims that the Kicks Surf Concept is “designed for those in search of the perfect wave”, thus it comes with roof bars for carrying boards and a rear deck for wet-suits and other accessories. They even went as far as equipping it with a changing booth and a portable shower system, so no matter how sandy or wet the experience gets, the interior of the car will remain clean.

On the exterior, the study combines blue with yellow and features graphics that represent ocean waves. The only highlight in the cabin is the blue stitching, which complements the bodywork’s look.

“We imagined it would have to be the perfect ally for the lifestyle and needs of surfers”, said John Sahs who led the brand’s design team in this project. “Blue is an evolving color that goes from dark to light, and we used it to represent the variety of tones in ocean water. The bright yellow-green accents, together with blue, gives the Nissan Kicks Surf Concept vehicle a dynamic and sporty feel.”

Nissan didn’t say anything about putting the Kicks Surf into production. Nevertheless, since most of these upgrades might be adapted to fit the small crossover, they automaker could be testing the waters (pun definitely intended) to offer it either as a complete package or a set of accessories. But we wouldn’t hold our breath (sorry, can’t help it…) waiting for this to happen.
