The eighth generation Nissan Maxima has been around since 2015. It’s been facelifted late last year, though, and now looks sportier and more modern inside and out.

It has a bigger grille, LED headlights and new taillights. Also, opting for the SR spec will get you a boot lid spoiler and a few interior updates, including Alcantara inserts and sports seats.

All trim levels are powered by a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine, which has been in Nissan’s lineup for quite a few years now. It pushes out 300 horsepower (304 PS / 224 kW) and 261 pound-feet (354 Nm) of torque and is paired to a standard Xtronic CVT, which the automaker says has been revised.

So, how does the car feel like close to the end of the decade, with a CVT? Just as one would expect it, whining every now and then, as pointed out by ThrottleHouse. However, it does work pretty well on the highway, with the adaptive cruise control activated, so if your daily commute involves covering many miles, then the car will probably grow on you.

Users won’t come to appreciate that the 2019 Maxima feels big in the corners though. There’s a lot of torque steer and a bit of tire noise coming into the cockpit, but at least the driving position is nice and the seats are comfortable. Furthermore, opting for higher grades will get you a very comprehensive safety kit.

So, the 2019 Maxima is quite fast, looks good and is relative practical. Would you want one? Depending on what expectations you have from such a car, the answer can vary, so the following video review should help you decide on whether this is a good buy or not.
