Hennessey Might Also Build A Roadster Version Of The 1,600+ HP Venom F5

Shortly after announcing that is has started building the first Venom F5 carbon fiber monocoque, Hennessey has followed this up with a statement that it is considering building an open-top version of its all-new hypercar.

A press release issued by the company says that the carbon fiber tub used by the Venom F5 has been designed to support both coupe and roadster models. Photoshopped pictures show the car in a light shade of blue and without a fixed roof. And, in all likelihood, the removable part will either be a carbon/kevlar panel or, alternatively, a soft top.

Hennessey has committed to building 24 units of the Venom F5 coupe and says it will only consider building the Roadster once deliveries of the former commence in early 2020. There’s no word on how many drop-top models could be made, but they should come in at a little more expensive than the $1.6 million Coupe.

The previous Hennessey Venom GT was sold in both coupe and roadster configurations, and the Venom GT Spyder still holds the record for the world’s fastest production convertible, recording a top speed of 265.6 mph (427.44 km/h), or just 0.1 mph slower than the top speed recorded in the Venom GT Coupe.

Powering the Venom F5 will be a twin-turbocharged 7.6-liter V8 pumping out in excess of 1600 hp and 1300 lb-ft (1760 Nm) of torque which, according to Hennessey, should be enough to help it break the 300 mph (482 km/h) barrier.

    Hennessey has come a long way from his Viper days. I am really looking forward to see what the final product will look like. Will it be on the same level when it relates to build quality and details as products created by Pagani or will it be a parts bin hack job? Only time will tell.
