Many car enthusiasts have a fascination with Shooting Brake vehicles and we can’t blame them as oftentimes, these cars look absolutely stunning. This Porsche Boxster-based Shooting Brake is a bit of an exception, however.

The car is currently being built by a shop dubbed Van Thull Development from the Netherlands. A lot of work still needs to be done before the project is ready, but these images provide us with a good idea of what the finished product will look like.

Rather than retaining the looks of the 986-generation Boxster which underpins the car, the shop has fitted Porsche 911-inspired front and rear facias. The front appears to be a replica of the 997-generation 911 GT3, while the rear features a bumper and taillights seemingly pulled from a 991-generation 911. It’s safe to say that wee’re not sold on these aesthetics, and that’s before you even look at the car from a sideways angle.

Viewed from the side, the Boxster Shooting Brake features a set of small doors and 911 Turbo-esque air intakes that are mounted a little too low in front of the rear wheel arches. The roofline mimics a traditional Shooting Brake, but is perhaps a little too upright. If the roof was lowered by about one-inch at the front and about two-inches towards the rear, and the side windows trimmed down to fit, the car might have looked much better.

Currently, those who want a Shooting Brake straight from the Porsche factory only have one option available in the form of the Panamera Sport Turismo, which definitely has a much more appealing shape than this Frankenboxster.
