Acura is already boasting about the 2021 TLX’s performance ahead of the model’s official unveiling that’s set for Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 am PDT (1 pm EST). Mind you, you might want to keep this link close for when the time comes…

The new TLX is built on an all-new sport sedan platform, which is said to be “designed for Type S levels of performance,” and includes a highly rigid body and a performance-focused chassis that features a double wishbone front suspension.

In fact, the Japanese brand put quite a bit of emphasis on the suspension setup, which uses two wishbone-shaped control arms in place of the more common Macpherson strut. The former allows for more precise control of wheel camber, caster and toe angles, while also maximizing tire-to-ground contact for improved handling and cornering grip.

Other Acuras to feature a double wishbone suspension include the second-gen NSX, but also many models from the carmaker’s past, such as the Legend (1986-1995), Integra (1990-2001), TL and TL Type S (1996-2014), and the first-gen NSX too (1991-2005).

In terms of power units, the new TLX will reportedly use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in its base-spec (same one as in the Honda Accord) mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. More upmarket variants will get a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, with possibly more than 300 HP. It will also feature the brand’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, as shown in another recent teaser.

As for styling, the new TLX takes after the Type S Concept that debuted last year, serving up a bunch of really sleek design lines, muscular fenders and an aggressive stance.
