A bizarre Mercedes-Benz 280 SE is currently up for sale on Facebook’s Marketplace near Stockholm, Sweden and will most likely leave you shaking your head.

Mercedes-Benz manufactured the 280 SE between 1979 and 1985 as a low-range version of the W126. It’s an instantly recognizable four-door sedan no matter where you live in the world but this Swedish one has undergone so many modifications that it’s actually hard to identify as a Mercedes-Benz, let alone a W126.

What may first strike you about the car is the fact that the roofline has been cut and lowered to give the sedan a lower stance on the road as well as a set of narrow side windows. Chopping a vehicle’s roof like this is no simple task and inevitably took quite a bit of time and manpower to achieve.

Looking beyond the roof reveals the car also features a custom front end with four round headlights akin to a slightly more modern Mercedes. The car also sports a custom hood with large air intakes although it’s difficult to determine if they’re actually functional or purely cosmetic. Other modifications made to the car include the fitment of five-spoke black wheels, a custom satin black paint scheme with orange accents (including orange flames), and a custom-designed rear fascia that includes two new tailpipes.

We don’t have any details about the engine but imagine it is the same 2.8-liter inline-six that the 280 SE left the factory with and which produced 185 PS (182 hp). And the price for this wacky Mercedes? A mere 23,000 Swedish Krona, the equivalent of just over $2,300.
