There are heaps of fast SUVs on the market, and the Porsche Macan Turbo, Audi RS Q3 Sportback, and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio are three of the best.

For its latest comparison test, CarWow pitted the trio together for its usual array of performance tests, including a drag race from a standing start, a rolling race, and a braking test.

First, the figures. In one corner sits the Porsche Macan Turbo, outfitted with a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine offering up 440 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Those are some very impressive figures, but the Porsche is also very heavy, tipping the scales at 4,453 lbs (2,020 kg).

Next is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. It too features a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 but churns out 510 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. It is also much lighter than the Porsche, weighing in at 4,034 lbs (1,830 kg).

Last, but definitely not least, is the Audi RS Q3 Sportback. It utilizes a 2.5-liter five-cylinder with a single turbocharger and produces 400 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm). Although that puts it at a significant disadvantage, it is the lightest of the bunch weighing 3,747 lbs (1,700 kg). It’s also worth mentioning that it is the equivalent of $20,000 less than the Alfa and Porsche in the UK.

We won’t ruin the results of the tests but as you can probably guess, the Audi cannot match the other two in a straight line. However, the Porsche and Alfa Romeo are surprisingly well matched despite the Stelvio’s significant power advantage.
