In order to make the Rolls-Royce Dawn feel even more expensive, the carmaker’s Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers and craftspeople created the removable Aero Cowling.

Launched back in 2018, this piece converts the Dawn from a four-seater to a luxury two-seat roadster of sorts by adding the extended tonneau cover atop the two rear seats.

This also leads to the Dawn having a higher-shouldered silhouette, making the car look slightly more dynamic, with the form of the cowls being precisely sculpted to funnel air over the cabin and enhance driver comfort.

Each cowl features a pair of lockable leather-lined storage compartments for personal effects, while the cover itself is made from carbon fiber and aluminum, which means it’s both lightweight and strong.

During its unveiling back in 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show, the first Dawn Aero Cowling was matched to a Cassiopeia Silver and Casden Tan color scheme, while the central spine was finished in exposed carbon fiber. Since then, the Aero Cowling has been commissioned many times.

One of the first was the Bayside Dawn Aero Cowling, ordered by a customer in Yokohama, Japan – it blended cutting-edge technical fiber with open-pore teak Canadel panelling, drawing inspiration from yacht decking.

More recently though, it adorned the Dawn Silver Bullet, inspired by the rakish roadsters of the 1920s. That car’s tonneau was finished with an ultra-metallic silver-painted central spine and a vapor-blasted titanium windbreak, etched with the Silver Bullet nameplate and Silhouette.
