RWB’s New Watches Celebrate Porsche Tuner’s Famous 911s

If you know Porsches, you’ll undoubtedly be familiar with the name Rauh-Welt Begriff (RWD), a Japanese tuner famous for modifying older 911 models.

The tuner was founded by Akira Nakai and has now expanded into the world of watches, with two timepieces developed in conjunction with REC Watches from Denmark just being unveiled.

The first of the two watches is dubbed the 901 RWB Stella and features gold accents. It gets its name from RWB’s first project, a Porsche 930 finished in matte black and gold and inspired by Stella Artois. The second watch is the 901 RWB Rotana and mimics a bright-purple RWB Porsche 911.

Both timepieces have a stainless steel, black PVD-coated exterior case, a rubber strap, and water resistance of up to 50 meters (164 feet). The faces are both 44 mm in diameter but the gold ‘bumpers’ of the Stella and purple add-ons of the Rotana bump the diameter up to 46 mm. Think of these add-ons as the watch equivalent to the flared wheel arches of RWB’s cars.

Automotive-related watches aren’t usually cheap and it’s no different here with both watches priced at $1,795 and available exclusively through the REC online store. REC and RWB will offer just 305 examples of each to shoppers.

Late last year, RWB presented one of its most ambitious projects to date; a classic 1977 Porsche 911 rocking an electric motor from a Tesla Model S Performance with 563 hp and coupled to a small 32 kWh battery pack.
