Spied: 2021 Audi E-Tron GT Will Be One Electrifying Machine

Our spy photographers have sent us more images of one of Audi’s many e-tron GT prototypes trying very hard with that dizzying camouflage wrap not to blend in with the urban environment. [Updated 6/10/2020]

Previously, Audi’s headline-grabbing E-Tron GT was spotted on public roads, with two test cars exiting Porsche’s test facilities wearing full-body camo wraps.

The anticipated electric sedan, and sister model to the Porsche Taycan, appears to be very close to the stunning 2018 concept, featuring the same proportions and character lines. The thin wrap does little to cover the shape of the roofline and the gorgeous shoulder line of Audi’s upcoming electric flagship.

Both headlights and taillights of the E-Tron GT also appear to be pretty similar in shape to those of the concept and there’s no doubt they’ll use the latest technologies to further boost the model’s wow factor.

As we can see, development of the production Audi E-Tron GT has moved onto warmer climates, with one of the test cars even running the characteristic Taycan wheels with the painted lip.

The production Audi E-Tron GT will share the same platform with the electric Porsche and is expected to feature a 96 kWh battery pack, at least initially. The concept promised a combined 582 HP from its twin-motor setup, along with a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds.

The driving range should be rated at around 250 miles (400 km) on the WLTP cycle while compatibility with 350kW fast-charging means that owners will be able to reach an 80 percent charge status in as little as 20 minutes. The chassis will also employ rear-wheel steering and real torque-vectoring in order to make the E-Tron GT more agile and precise through the corners.

We understand that Audi plans to offer the E-Tron GT in a range of versions in the same fashion as the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S, with less powerful models to follow soon after the production model is launched.

Speaking of which, Audi is expected to reveal the final production version of the E-Tron GT this fall – before the coronovirus outbreak changed everything, it was believed to debut at the LA Auto Show in November, but there’s serious doubt the event will take place this year. Either way, it will arrive at dealers during the first quarter of 2021.
