2021 VW ID.4 1st Edition Electric SUV Launched In The UK Priced From £37,800*

Volkswagen’s first battery-electric SUV, the ID.4, is now up for grabs in Britain, where it is available in the limited-run ID.4 1st Edition specification.

Pricing starts at £37,800* ($51,840), after the government grant is applied, and the first units are expected to arrive at dealers across the country in March.

Setting it apart from the rest of the ID.4 family, the 1st Edition features bespoke badging inside and out, and Florence Brown highlights in the cabin. Customers can order it in Glacier White, Manganese Grey, Blue Dusk, and Honey Yellow. Standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels, LED head- and taillights, tinted rear windows, reversing camera, ambient lighting, 10-inch infotainment system, voice control, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist, and Lane Assist.

The ID.4 1st Edition will be available only in rear-wheel drive and a single-motor during launch, with the dual-motor variant to join the range later. This model offers 204 PS (201 HP / 150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque, for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) of 8.5 seconds and a 160 km/h (99 mph) top speed. The 77 kWh battery supports fast charging of up to 125 kW, which will add 320 km (199 miles) of range in just 30 minutes, VW claims, and when it is juiced up, it offers up to 499 km (310 miles) on the WLTP cycle.

Production takes place at the Zwickau plant in Germany, which is where the ID.3 electric hatchback is also built. Eventually, the ID.4 will also be assembled at the Anting and Foshan facilities in China before the end of the year, and at the Emden and Chattanooga plants in Germany and the USA respectively, in 2022.
