Half a million dollars can buy you some pretty remarkable cars and in January 7-16 at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction, one such car will be offered for sale.

What you’re looking at is a 1958 Dual-Ghia Convertible that was one of just 117 units produced by the short-live automaker between 1956 and 1958 and thought to be one of just 32 examples known to exist today. It has a pre-auction estimate of between $550,000 and $650,000.

According to the listing, the car is being sold from the collection of Dr. Chalres Musto that includes nine other Dual-Ghia Convertibles. The car’s rebuilt engine only has test miles on the clock and in 2015, underwent a comprehensive restoration that saw all the chrome components restored, re-produced badging fitted, and the instruments being returned back to as-new condition. Key interior details include a Town and Country radio, a restored rearview mirror, and original side plates with embossed herringbone patterns.

Slotted under the hood is a 315 cubic-inch Dodge D500 engine that produces 260 hp and is mated to a Chrysler Powerflite automatic transmission. The car retains its correct Carter WCFB 4-barrel carburetor, Mallory distributor and Volt Master coil. In addition, it includes the original aluminum battery tray cover, hubcaps, whitewall tires, bumper jack, and spare tire hold-down.

The Dual-Ghia Convertible is one rare beast indeed, but in 2017, one was sold by RM Sotheby’s for $341,000.
