Volvo has updated the XC60 for the 2022MY, making it smarter and giving it a very subtle visual makeover.

While we’ve yet to receive details for the North American version, the global model, which will be marketed in Europe as a 2021 vehicle sees the introduction of the Android-powered infotainment system. It provides a user-friendly experience for those familiar with Google’s OS and allows users to sign up for the Digital Services package.

The latter consists of the tech giant’s apps and services, including a personal assistant, Maps navigation, and native in-car apps available via Google Play in all European Union countries and the United States. It also provides access to the automaker’s dedicated app and wireless phone charging.

Safety of the 2022 XC60 has also been improved with the introduction of the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It uses ultrasonic sensors, radars and cameras to facilitate semi-autonomous driving, via the Pilot Assist function, which works from a standstill up to highway speeds.

Only true fans of Volvo’s premium compact SUV will get to tell the updated model from its predecessor, as the design was only modestly revised, with the Swedish company tweaking the grille and bumpers, and introducing new wheels and exterior color options.

Offering additional personalization possibilities, the 2022 XC60 has new textile upholstery for the cockpit, including the City Weave.

Volvo did not say anything about the engine lineup, so it likely carries over with no changes whatsoever.

The updated XC60 will enter production at the end of May, and deliveries are expected to commence in June for the UK market, with pricing and specifications to be announced later on.
