The latest special edition from Abarth promises to bring the ultimate hot hatch bragging rights: an engine from a true racecar. Or at least that’s according to Abarth, because technically, the Tatuus single-seat Formula 4 race car from which the F595 borrows its engine, itself uses a tweaked version of Abarth 500’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four making 160-hp in the Italian and German F4 racers.

The Fiat 500-based Abarth F595 is powered by a Euro 6D-Final-compliant 1.4-liter four-cylinder T-Jet engine producing 165 hp (167 PS/123 kW) and 169 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque.

The engine uses a Garrett supercharger with a geometric compression ratio of 9:1 and produces max torque from 2,250 rpm. That helps the car get to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.3 seconds with the manual gearbox and in 7.4 seconds with the 5-speed sequential transmission.

To ensure the car sounds right, Abarth fitted a Record Monza Sovrapposto active exhaust with four pipes, two stacked on each side of the car’s rear end. Pressing a Scorpion mode selector inside the cabin makes the exhaust louder, as well as the throttle response more aggressive and the power steering heavier.

To keep it all under control, the Abarth F595 comes with Koni rear shocks with Frequency Selective Damping technology as standard. It also sports Abarth-designed ventilated brake discs that measure 284 mm at the front and 240 mm at the back.

Available in both hatchback and convertible guise, the car comes with 17-inch Formula alloy wheels and an F595 identification badge on the rear and fog lamps. It is available in white, black, and three shades of grey, all of which will get Rally Blue design cues.

Designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Formula Italia single-seat race car designed by Carlo Abarth, the Abarth 595 is available to order now in the UK with a starting price of £20,305 ($28,000 USD).
