Honda today posted a photo of the upcoming Civic Si’s back end on its Instagram page and revealed that the new model will make its debut on October 19, 2021.

Although the shot is cut off deliberately so as not to show too much, we do get a view of a chrome-tipped exhaust pipe. It is also painted an bright shade of orange and features a small spoiler at the edge of the trunk.

The new Civic Si was also recently teased by Team Honda Research, who showed images and a video of the model’s racing version.

The race car, which featured a tall rear wing and an aggressive front splitter, was a sedan. That stands to reason because in June Honda Canada confirmed that the Si trim would only be available for the sedan model earlier this year.

Although reports previously set the car’s debut date in October, the actual day of the reveal was a mystery until now. Another report, this time of a leaked internal document, suggested that we won’t have long to wait before seeing the car in dealer showrooms, as deliveries are expected to start in November.

In any case, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what’s under the hood. The outgoing Civic Si was powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that made 205 hp (207 PS/152 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque.

Apart from the Civic Si, the even higher-performance Type R is also on its way. Set to make its debut in 2022, it could reportedly get as much as 310 hp (314 PS/231 kW) from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.
