If you’re one of the many individuals looking to buy an all-electric car in 2022, Kia has just sweetened the deal on its all-new EV6. A new partnership between the Korean automaker and the Electrify America charging network will provide EV6 owners with 1,000 kilowatt-hours of power at no cost.

Here’s everything you need to know about how far that will take you and how buyers can access the power.

You Have 3 Years To Charge Up

From the date of purchase, Kia EV6 buyers have three years to utilize the 1,000 kilowatt-hours of complimentary charging. To use it, they’ll need to create an Electrify America account and log in to it via a smartphone app. Kia will provide owners with an enrollment code through the owners portal or the Kia Connect application.

Should owners experience issues, Electrify America will provide troubleshooting assistance during the three-year period. According to the automaker, 1,000 kilowatt-hours should offer somewhere between 3,500 (5,632 km) to 4,000-miles (6,437 km) worth of total range depending on a number of factors.

First Drive: The 2022 Kia EV6 Looks To Be The New EV Benchmark

Electrify America is the largest DC charging network in the nation and many stations offer 350 kW fast charging capability. The Kia EV6 is one of the few vehicles that can utilize that kind of power and speed to the full. Thanks to an 800-volt architecture, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent (up to 217 miles (349km) of range) in just 18 minutes depending on various conditions. The EV6 has a maximum range of 310-miles (498km) when equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery according to the EPA.

“Kia is undergoing a pivotal shift to electrification and the all-new EV6 is the first major step in that direction, underpinned by the company’s advanced E-GMP platform,” said Steve Center, COO and EVP, Kia America. “Partnering with Electrify America will enable our customers to enjoy a superior charging experience coupled with the outstanding all-electric range of the EV6.”

We really liked the EV6 when we drove it. It’s a quick and comfortable family hauler and this additional perk of ownership makes the oddly sized crossover an even better value. Only time will tell if it’s enough to sway buyers though. What do you think of free bonus miles like this? Do they factor into your consideration of one EV over another?
