The E-Class is one of Mercedes-Benz’s most important models, and for good reason. The car has had a long history, over which it developed a reputation as sort of the “goldilocks” of luxury cars. Not too expensive, but not too cheap. Not too large, but not too small. Not too opulent, but also not too frugal. The list goes on.

But for those who want to relive the glory days of the E-Class’s lineage, automotive YouTuber Tedward, who specializes in POV driving videos, has uploaded one of a gorgeous 1976 W115 240D finished in green over tan.

The car is a beautiful example of classic German luxury, back when luxury was defined by the quality of materials and fit and finish rather than the amount of tech the vehicle had. Despite that, one look at the inside of this Mercedes will reveal an interior that’s fairly advanced for its time, both in terms of design and in terms of technology.

One thing this car kept simple, though, was its drivetrain. Powering the car is a 2.4-liter diesel inline-four, which sends a meager 64 hp (65 PS / 48 kW) and 101 lb-ft (137 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Needless to say, speed was not the top priority for Mercedes when designing the 240D, but that didn’t stop them from building a classically luxurious sedan with one of the smoothest rides around.

So sit back, relax, throw on some headphones for the 3D stereo audio, and take in the sights and sounds of the 240D driving through the countryside in the video below
