Jeep Compass Gains 5th Anniversary Edition In India

Jeep may have celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2020 with a series of special editions, but its Indian division is proud of another milestone. The market-specific Jeep Compass 5th Anniversary Edition is celebrating five years of Compass production in India, coming with plenty of kit and special badges.

The second-gen Compass is the first Jeep to be locally produced in India. The model arrived in 2017 and received a facelift in 2021 together with the rest of the world. The new 5th Anniversary Edition is distinguished by a few elements, with the most obvious being the special badge on the tailgate.

The SUV is fitted with granite-crystal 18-inch alloy wheels shod in all-season tires. It also features body-colored plastic cladding with silver accents, while the grille, roof, roof rails, and mirrors are painted in black. Inside, Jeep opted for a dark theme with black leather upholstery, piano black details, and gunmetal accents. Equipment includes a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with plenty of connectivity features, a 7-inch screen for the instrument cluster, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and a panoramic sunroof.

Predictably, there are no mechanical changes. This means that the Jeep Compass 5th Anniversary Edition is offered with either the turbocharged 1.4-liter Fire petrol engine producing 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) and 250 Nm (184.4 lb-ft) of torque, or the 2.0-liter Multijet diesel producing 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The latter is also available in 4×4 guise when mated to a nine-speed auto (six-speed manual is FWD). Note that the Indian-spec Compass is exclusively available in ICE-only form, unlike Europe which gets mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

In terms of pricing, the 5th Anniversary Edition costs 2,444,000 Indian Rupee ($30,713), which positions it as the second most expensive trim of the Compass in India below the S. Besides the Compass, other locally assembled Jeep models that are expected to debut soon are the Meridian and the Grand Cherokee.
