The seventh-generation Mustang is fast approaching, and now Ford is offering one lucky customer the opportunity to buy the very first example. The 2024 Mustang GT VIN 001 will be sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction later this month.

Since the car hasn’t yet been built, the winning bidder will be allowed to choose from any standard Mustang GT fastback option, including either the six-speed manual or the 10-speed automatic transmission.

Buyers will also be able to choose from any of the Mustang’s 11 color options, any of the selection of alloy wheels that range from 18- to 20-inches in size, as well as brake calipers in one of three colors: Black, Red, or Grabber Blue. The buyer will also be given a choice of interior packages and can select the Performance Pack.

This adds Recaro seats and an active exhaust to the sports car, as well as an electronic drift brake to aid novices learn how to drift—something Mustang drivers may need help with. It also gives drivers the ability to fine-tune suspension, steering, and engine controls digitally, giving them control over their experience.

Speaking of the engine, the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 offers drivers up to 486 hp (362 kW/493 PS) and 418 lb-ft (566 Nm) of torque in the Mustang GT, thanks to a new dual air intake and throttle body design.

This is not the first time that Ford has auctioned off a new generation of Mustang’s VIN 001 for charity through Barrett-Jackson. In addition, the automaker recently did the same with the latest Mustang Shelby GT500, Mustang Mach 1, and Mustang Bullitt. Money raised in this sale will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which, according to Ford, is the leading type 1 diabetes research and advocacy group.

The 2024 Ford Mustang GT VIN 001 will roll across the auction block on Saturday, January 28 at Barrett-Jackson’s annual Scottsdale, Arizona sale.
