If you happen to visit Lamborghini’s official Instagram account today you’ll probably notice that a lot is missing from their feed. The Sant’Agata company deleted all Instagram posts, with the exception of a Miura-themed photo, leaving us with more questions than answers. The wipeout stands for original posts, as the Reels and Tagged sections of the account remain unaltered.

At first glance, this could be some sort of a glitch waiting to be fixed. However, we can’t rule out the possibility of it being an intentional gimmick in preparation for the reveal of the electrified V12 flagship on March 29. Maybe Lamborghini wanted to make a clean start in the wake of its 60th-anniversary celebrations this year. Still, it is hard to justify deleting so much content in one go.

The single remaining post was published five hours ago and depicts Lamborghini’s first supercar with the following description: “6.7 is the time it takes for Miura to go from 0 to 100 km/h. Falling in love with it happens in an instant”. The Lamborghini Miura was followed by the Countach, the Diablo, the Murcielago, and the Aventador, finally giving way to the upcoming supercar codenamed LB744. If we start seeing more content with the aforementioned vehicles, then we will start believing that the wipeout was intentional.

Lamborghini currently has 33.7 million followers on Instagram who are probably as baffled as we are about this marketing decision. Interestingly, the company’s official Facebook page with 13.2 million followers, and the Twitter profile with 2.3 million followers haven’t been affected.

This isn’t the first time a big account deletes the entirety of its posts. Many celebrities and popular artists wiped their Instagram profiles after a breakup or in order to promote a new project. In regards to automakers, Jaguar did a similar social media stunt last year, deleting 10 years’ worth of content prior to the launch of the F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 which makes even less sense.

We have reached Lamborghini for a comment and we will update this story when they get back to us.
