Back in April, we reported that the Nissan Rogue, Pathfinder, and Infiniti QX60 had to be recalled due to a seat that could detach in the event of an accident. Now, Nissan is sending out a few more notices to customers because some cars may have slipped through the cracks.

The problem relates to the powered seat cushion that may not be fully secured to the frame in certain vehicles. As a result, the frame welds could detach from the inboard seat bracket in an accident, increasing the risk of injury.

After issuing that initial recall, which affected a total of 12,400 vehicles, the automaker conducted an inspection of all of its service parts inventory, to see if any bad seat cushions were installed in vehicles affected by the issue and repaired by its dealers.

Nissan found 78 cases in which a potentially affected part could not be accounted for. That means that there are vehicles whose power seats have been replaced using parts from this bad batch.

The company will start getting in touch with the owners of potentially affected vehicles on July 27. That includes the 2022-2023 Nissan Pathfinder and the 2021-2023 Nissan Rogue. They will be asked to return their vehicle to a nearby dealer for inspection.

A technician will check the driver’s seat rail clearance to the inboard seat bracket. If necessary, the seat cushion frame will be removed and replaced with a new one that is not at risk of coming apart. As always, any recall repairs will be conducted free of charge to the vehicle’s owner.
