Chances are, the Mazda Millenia, a mid-size premium-ish sedan, also known as the Eunos 800 and Mazda Xedos 9 in overseas markets, likely never graced a poster in anyone’s bedroom. However, for some reason, this example’s single owner treated it as if it belonged on one. Now, it could become a part of your garage, as it’s available for sale in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

If you need a reminder, the Millenia was introduced to the North American market in 1995, as the replacement for the 929. Although the model traded RWD for a new FWD platform, it also introduced a surprising amount of quality for the brand.

That’s because the car was originally designed to introduce a new luxury sub-brand called Amati, akin to Toyota’s Lexus and Honda’s Acura at the time. However, financial pressure caused by an economic bubble forced Mazda to nix the brand, and put its own badge on the car.

No less a source than Motorweek called the Millenia “tasteful and efficient,” and complimented its wood accents, cushy seats, as well as its many easy to use functions. Although it didn’t set the premium sedan world on fire, it certainly belonged in it.

This model is equipped with Mazda’s 2.5-liter V6, which produced a respectable 170 horsepower (127 kW/173 PS) from the factory and has only traveled 1,272 miles (2,045 km). It is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, which was considered a symbol of 1990s luxury.

Finished in beige, which unsurprisingly remains in excellent condition, the exterior of this 1996 Millenia appears almost as if it were new. The interior tells a similar story, where instead of beige, the original owner opted for tan leather seats with ruched center inserts. A black dash and center console add a touch of visual contrast to this exceptionally well-preserved vehicle.

Available for sale through VIP Auto Inc., the condition of the car is as impressive as its asking price of $18,700. That’s a whole heck of a lot of money for a fairly anonymous ‘90s sedan, regardless of its condition, but perhaps that could be considered a bargain for someone looking to take a nostalgic trip back to their childhood.
