If you’re in the market for a $2,650 handbag and an electric luxury vehicle, you’re in luck as Lucid and Saks Fifth Avenue have announced a perplexing partnership.

The Saks x Lucid collab will see the retailer offer “exclusive demo drive experiences” of the Lucid Air at select stores. Drives are currently being offered at the company’s west coast flagship in Beverly Hills and they’ll be offered at additional stores in the near future.

Full details will be announced at a later date, but Saks said participating locations will include Atlanta, Boca Raton, Chicago, Greenwich, Houston, Las Vegas and Troy, Michigan. Interested customers will be able to schedule a test drive online or in person.

While the partnership sounds odd, the retailer stated Lucid is “imbued with an elevated vision of sustainable luxury that makes it a surprisingly good fit for Saks.” Lucid noted a “good test for Saks customers will be how many shopping bags they can fit in the back seat, trunk and the frunk.”

That’s cringeworthy, but Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said “Our partnership with Saks, a longtime authority in the luxury space, blends our technology and design excellence with high-end retail in an incredible collaboration” that “brings the Lucid brand directly to Saks clientele searching for fine craftsmanship and innovation that seamlessly blend into their lifestyle, such as can be found with the Lucid Air.”

The companies also noted this isn’t their first tie-up as the Air Sapphire was showcased at Saks’ flagship store in New York last year. It was displayed in “The Vault” – which is a floor dedicated to high-end jewelry and watches – and this required the car to be lowered into the building through an atrium.
