- A Porsche Carrera GT clone is listed for $100k on eBay, located in Florida.
- The replica is based on the first-gen Boxster S, featuring new bodywork.
- The Boxster’s 3.2-liter engine falls short of the Carrera GT’s 5.7-liter V10.
Back in the 2000s, the Carrera GT was the undisputed flagship of the Porsche brand, a competitor to the Ferrari Enzo. In contrast, the Boxster was the entry-level roadster, far from supercar territory. Yet, somehow, someone has decided to transform the humble Boxster into a Carrera GT imposter, listing it on eBay for a cool $100,000.
This creation is based on a first-generation Porsche Boxster from the year 2000, but the bodywork has been completely reworked. The length has been stretched by a full 12 inches (30 cm) and the stance widened in an attempt to better mimic the proportions of a supercar.

Despite the effort, the final result looks like someone was asked to recreate a Carrera GT based on a vague description. The lighting units are slightly off (especially at the rear), as are the bumpers, side intakes, and removable hard top.
That said, the rear deck does keep the sculpted engine cover with the adaptive rear wing, and the builder even went the extra mile to fabricate custom door-mounted mirrors. Unfortunately, the chrome alloy wheels are probably the biggest letdown, as they look cheap and don’t really match the Porsche vibe. On the bright side, the seller has wrapped them in fresh rubber, so at least you won’t have to worry about tire replacements.

Inside, the Boxster’s humble origins are even more apparent, with the dashboard and seats carried over from the donor car. While the raised center console of the Carrera GT is noticeably absent, the replica does feature leather upholstery, metal scuff plates, and Carrera lettering on the floor mats to try and make up for it. To sweeten the deal, there’s also a new A/C system that’s apparently working like a charm.
According to the listing, the Carrera GT conversion doesn’t come with any performance upgrades. So, this faux supercar still relies on the 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine from the Porsche Boxster S, which originally cranked out 254 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) back in the day.
This power output doesn’t come close to the 603 hp (450 kW / 612 PS) of the Porsche Carrera GT’s 5.7-liter V10, but at least it’s paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. As for the chassis, the upgrades are minimal, just a hydraulic suspension that lowers the replica’s ride height to give it a slightly more aggressive stance.

The seller makes the case that real Carrera GTs are going for over $1 million, so this lookalike could be yours for a fraction of that price. However, paying $100,000 for a 25-year-old Boxster, no matter how many modifications it has, seems a bit much. For anyone interested, the one-of-a-kind replica is located in Florida, US.
Of course, this isn’t the first time a Carrera GT replica has popped up for sale online. Previous examples have typically been based on the Pontiac Fiero and were offered at far more reasonable prices. For comparison, below you can find photos of the real deal, the genuine Porsche Carrera GT.
