• Ford Performance Racing School is selling its fleet of Focus RS hatchbacks.
  • All models are from 2016 and reportedly priced at around $20,000 each.
  • These hot hatches were used for track sessions at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The third-gen Ford Focus RS was a revelation when it arrived a decade ago. It put the entire hot hatch segment on notice, much like the Toyota GR Yaris did half a decade later, combining rally-car looks with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, all-wheel drive, heaps of power, and a Drift mode.

For years, enthusiasts in the US could experience the RS first-hand at the Ford Performance Racing School, based at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. The school offered seat time in some of Ford’s most exciting performance models, with the Focus RS among the highlights. Now, though, the school is parting ways with its fleet of the turbocharged hatchbacks.

Ex-School Cars For Sale

News of the sale first came from a post on Reddit after the Ford Performance Racing School sent out an email. We also found a post on the FocusRS forums that includes an email for more information. It’s unclear how many Focus RS models are up for grabs, but the company notes they are all 2016 models. One Reddit user reached out to Ford Performance and was told the cars are available for $20,000, without providing further details.

A search through AutoTrader shows there are plenty of Focus RS models in the US for prices in the $20,000 to $25,000 range, generally with between 80,000 and 100,000 miles under their belt. The cheapest we could find was just $11,995, but it’s been driven an extraordinary 257,714 miles.

While we don’t know how many miles the cars from the driving school have on them, you can rest assured that every one has been driven hard by drivers participating in the track sessions. On the flip side, each car should have been well-maintained by expert Ford mechanics, so they may be in better condition than others on the used market. Even so, a thorough inspection would be wise before taking the plunge.

If you’re looking to get behind the wheel of a Focus RS, be sure to shoot the Ford Performance Racing School an email soon, as we suspect the cars won’t be available for long.
