- Modellista revealed ES upgrade kit at Tokyo Auto Salon event.
- New ES body kit adds subtle front and rear bumper accents.
- Side skirts feature customizable LED light strip in multiple colors.
The new Lexus ES arrives with a different kind of presence, trading the sweeping curves of its predecessor for a sharper silhouette. It’s a cleaner design, but not everyone’s sold on the shift, which leans toward a more conservative, China-focused aesthetic. Looking to inject a little visual flair, Modellista rolled out a set of design accessories for the ES at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
These new parts give the ES a slightly sportier look, though none are particularly striking. Those in the market for a Lexus sedan that turns heads would probably be better off buying an IS, especially in its recently updated form.

At the front, Modellista has designed a new body-colored splitter for the ES, combining it with extended side skirts that also look the part. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of these side skirts is the configurable LED light strip, which can display different colors. There are also new wing mirror caps with a new satin black finish.
The changes continue at the sides with a set of 21-inch forged aluminum wheels with a spiraling spoke design, making the ES look a whole lot better than it did with the standard wheels shown last year. A new body-colored diffuser area has also been added to the rear bumper.
The previous version of the ES had been available in F Sport guise, giving the car some extra flair. There’s no word on whether Lexus has plans for an F Sport version of the all-new ES, but we think it’d be wise to bring such a vehicle to market. A pair of renderings by design Theottle gave us a hint of what a new ES F Sport could look like, and it certainly makes the new model’s design stand out.
Since the version shown in Tokyo is still a prototype, pricing for the final production components hasn’t been announced. It’s also not yet known whether any of these parts will be available outside of Japan.
