- Wuling has taken the wraps off the new Xingguang L / Starlight L.

SAIC-GM-Wuling has unveiled the new Xingguang L (Starlight L), ahead of its debut at Auto China later this month. It’s a family-friendly plug-in hybrid that promises to combine “premium comfort with accessible pricing.”
Looking surprisingly upscale, the three-row crossover has a streamlined design inspired by “Chinese aesthetics.” Wuling didn’t go into many specifics, but the model has an upright front fascia with split lighting units and a full-width LED light bar. They’re joined by an active shutter lower intake and a flowing piece of chrome trim.

Continuing down the sides, there’s a strong shoulder line and an expansive greenhouse with a bright surround. Designers also gave the crossover streamlined bodywork, pronounced wheel arches, and 20-inch wheels.
The rear end is home to angular taillights that are connected by an illuminated strip. The model also has a rear wiper that is apparently hidden behind the spoiler.
The Xingguang L will be offered in five different colors including black, blue, green, silver, and white. The green looks particularly fetching and this is likely due to the “premium BASF 2K high-gloss clear coat applied in an eight-layer process for lasting luster and scratch resistance.”
In terms of size, the model measures 196 inches (4,980 mm) long, 76 inches (1,930 mm) wide, and 69.3 inches (1,760 mm) tall with a wheelbase spanning 116.1 inches (2,950 mm). To put those numbers into perspective, the crossover would effectively slot between the Chevrolet Equinox and Traverse as it’s 8.5 inches (216 mm) shorter than the latter family hauler and has 4.9 inches (124 mm) fewer between the wheels.
A Classy, But Minimalist Cabin
The six-seat interior sports an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment system. They’re joined by a flat-bottom steering wheel, laser-etched wood trim, soft-touch materials, and genuine metal speaker grilles.
Wuling also mentioned a 256-color ambient lighting system, ergonomically contoured seats, and air vents that have a lattice pattern woven into them. We’re not seeing the latter, but the pictures hint at a dual wireless smartphone charger, metallic switchgear, and contrast stitching.
As is typical in China, second-row passengers get plenty of attention. In the Xingguang L, they’ll find fold-down tray tables as well as a button on the passenger side that moves the front seat forward to create additional legroom.
We’ll learn more details later this month, but GM said the model will have a best-in-class electric-only CLTC range of 162 miles (260 km).
