- Vin Diesel teased four Fast universe episodes, though only one is officially in development.
- Peacock series promises legacy characters and is being produced by Diesel and other alums.
- Final Fast movie arrives in 2028, ending franchise after nearly three decades of smokey action.
Universal just found another way to keep the Fast & Furious franchise alive between theatrical pit stops. While fans wait for 2028’s Fast Forever to supposedly wrap things up, Peacock is now developing a live-action TV series tied to the blockbuster saga.
“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel said at the NBCUniversal upfront presentation in New York on Monday alongside “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon. “The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe.”

There’s just one small problem. Only a single show is actively moving forward right now, according to Variety. Additional projects reportedly exist in various stages of planning, but NBCUniversal insiders say there isn’t a four-show lineup officially greenlit yet.
Even so, it’s obvious Universal sees more mileage left in the franchise. Diesel said the switch to television finally made sense once NBCUniversal entertainment chief Donna Langley took oversight of the studio’s wider entertainment operations. According to Diesel, she’d help protect “the integrity of the characters” and the franchise’s global appeal.
Actual story details right now are basically nonexistent. The official description reportedly amounts to “more to come.” Still, at least the production team has serious Fast credentials behind it.
Production In Safe, Fast Hands
Mike Daniels, whose past work includes Sons of Anarchy and Shades of Blue, will co-write and co-run the show with Wolfe Coleman, Variety says. And Diesel executive produces alongside multiple longtime Fast franchise producers. The series will be made by Universal Television.
This also won’t be the franchise’s first TV detour. Netflix previously launched the animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which lasted six seasons between 2019 and 2021. Apparently, there’s always room for more family.
Fast Forever, the eleventh and supposedly final movie in the long-running franchise, was originally meant to hit theaters in 2027, but is now scheduled for March 17, 2028. Diesel claimed in 2024 that the send-off would return to the team’s Los Angeles street-racing roots (check out the original trailer for the very first movie, below). He also indicated that it would feature a CGI version of Brian O’Connor, the character made famous by actor Paul Walker, who died in a fiery Porsche Carrera GT crash in 2013.
