Cheeky 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Electric Crossover Is Now Disguised As A Kia

Look behind the fake trim though, and you will see an enclosed grille, with the brand’s logo sitting in the middle. The headlamps have similar graphics to the ID.3 electric hatchback, which are expected to be linked together by a thin light strip.

The sporty profile is highlighted by the chrome trim placed right above the windows, which follows the shape of the roof. Further back, we can see the wing inspired by the ID.3, as well as similarly-styled taillights. The tailgate sports a larger crease and features another chrome strip, and the bumper ends with the diffuser-like element.

Previewed by the ID. Crozz Concept, the ID.4 will take on the compact segment for electric crossovers. Unlike its hatchback sibling, the ID.4 will launch in global markets, including China, Europe and North America.

Riding on VW’s MEB platform, the entry-level model will make do with rear-wheel drive and around 200 hp, though a more powerful version is scheduled to arrive later on, with two electric motors, all-wheel drive and a rumored +300 HP. Full specs have yet to be released, but look for a driving range of up to 311 miles (500 km), in the WLTP cycle, in one of the variants.

Despite the pandemic causing all sorts of delays for automakers across the globe, we still expect the ID.4 to premiere before the end of the year, followed by the crossover coupe derivative that was also spied testing earlier this year.
