• There’s a new 911 GT3 to celebrate Ferdinand Porsche’s 90th birthday.
  • It features a unique green paint job, a special interior, and a cool watch.
  • Pricing starts at $387,000 and production is limited to 90 units globally.

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche founded Porsche Design in 1972 with his brother Hans-Peter. While F.A., as he was known, passed away in 2012, Porsche is celebrating what would have been his 90th birthday.

To mark the occasion, the company’s Sonderwunsch team has created a limited edition 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche. It was created with the assistance of Ferdinand’s youngest son, Mark, and is a tribute to the iconic designer.

The model is based on the 911 GT3 with the Touring Package and features a special F. A. Green metallic paint job. The color is loosely based on the Oak Green metallic used on Ferdinand’s own 911.

The special touches don’t end there as the model rides on unique satin black Sport Classic wheels featuring center locking hubs wearing the 1963 Porsche crest. Elsewhere, the rear engine vent has a special “90 F. A. Porsche” badge.

What’s Inside Matters Too

The tribute continues inside as there are Truffle Brown Club Leather seats with woven fabric centers. The latter draw inspiration from the pattern of Ferdinand’s favorite sport coat and feature a mix of black, green, truffle brown, cream, and Bordeaux red. The same fabric can also be found in the glove box and frunk.

The Sport Chrono clock was influenced by the Chronograph 1 watch, which was created as a one-off for F. A. Porsche. It’s accompanied by a shifter with an open pore walnut handle.

The latter is relatively subtle, but other highlights stand out including a gold plaque on the dash. It features the silhouette of the original 911 as well as F. A. Porsche’s signature and a mention that the car is “ONE of 90.” Other highlights include a special center console cover and Limestone contrast stitching.

Under the Skin, Still a GT3

Like the standard model, the special edition features a 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine developing 502 hp (374 kW / 509 PS) and 331 lb-ft (448 Nm) of torque.

It can presumably be connected to either an automatic or manual transmission. With the former, the car accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 193 mph (311 km/h).

Pricing starts at $387,000 and production will be limited to 90 units globally. However, one car has been earmarked for Mark Porsche.

What Else Comes With It?

Production is scheduled to begin in mid-2026 and each buyer will receive a one-on-one consultation in order to personalize their vehicle. As an added bonus, customers will receive a special Weekender travel bag and an exclusive edition of the Chronograph 1 from Porsche Design, both created specifically for the occasion.

The company is particularly proud of the chronograph, which comes with a titanium housing and a black titanium strap, along with an additional leather option. The watch is based on the “Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition,” originally released in 2022 to mark Porsche Design’s 50th anniversary.

The COSC-certified timepiece sports the classic Porsche Design logo as well as a Super-LumiNova material on the hands and indices, which replicates the look of “aging radium or tritium to create a patina-like effect.”

As for the Weekender bag, it’s crafted from the same Truffle Brown leather used in the car’s interior, accented with Chalk Beige decorative stitching. Its front pocket is lined with the F. A. Grid-Weave fabric from the seat center panels, and an embroidered badge with the anniversary logo appears on the outer pocket.
