- It features a white hardtop, grille, and side decal.
- The special edition package costs up to $3,185.
When Jeep announced plans to introduce 12 special editions over the next 12 months, there was little doubt that some would be better than others. The company got off to a strong start with the Wrangler Moab 392, but they’re dialing things back with the Wrangler Whitecap.
Based on the Sahara and Rubicon, the special edition features retro-inspired cues from the CJ-5. In particular, the Whitecap pays tribute to the model’s old school hard top.

As a result, the Wrangler Whitecap has a Bright White roof as well as a matching body stripe with 1941 badging. They’re joined by a Bright White painted grille.
The Rubicon variant goes a step further as it also includes a Bright White hood decal. Furthermore, if customers order the Sky One-Touch power roof, it will feature a Bright White accent.

Pricing varies by trim, but the Whitecap package can be had for just $495 on the Rubicon X. However, it climbs to $3,185 on the Rubicon where it also includes body-color fender flares and an optional body-color hardtop, which kind of defeats the point. Likewise, on the Sahara, you’ll need to shell out $2,690.
That seems like a lot for decals and a splash of white paint, but the special edition does have a cool retro vibe. It also recalls the Ford Bronco, which had a white roof and grille on the Heritage Edition.
Putting that rivalry aside, the special edition can be powered by either four- or six-cylinder engines since it’s little more than an appearance package. The 2.0-liter engine produces 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 churns out 285 hp and 260 lb-ft.
