- Stellantis issues second recall for brake pedal collapse risk.
- 5,974 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Tonale SUVs recalled in the US.
- Alfa Giulia headlights recalled due to wiring harness issue.
Stellantis is once making headlines with a round of recalls affecting several of its plug-in hybrid and performance models sold in the United States. Among the affected vehicles are the Alfa Romeo Tonale and the related Dodge Hornet PHEVs, and the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
While all recalls deserve attention, one in particular stands out for its potential severity: the brake pedal assembly on the Tonale and Hornet PHEVs may collapse during braking, a flaw that, in the wrong moment, could be catastrophic.

Although Stellantis hasn’t provided specifics on how the brake pedal assembly could fail, the company confirmed it’s an in-house part. The issue first surfaced in October 2023, prompting an earlier recall involving over 21,000 vehicles. This latest action builds on that initial discovery, tightening the net on what could be a far-reaching safety concern.
This new recall covers 5,974 vehicles across the U.S., including 2,688 Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEVs built from February 23, 2023, to February 14, 2024, and 3,286 Dodge Hornet PHEVs assembled between February 10, 2023, and December 21, 2023.
So far, one accident has been officially linked to the brake pedal defect, though fortunately, no injuries were reported. Stellantis is directing dealers to reinforce the brake pedal arm with a bolt-and-nut setup, a relatively straightforward fix. Owners can expect notification letters starting January 13, 2026.
In the meantime, as with the original recall, drivers are being advised to fall back on the Electronic Park Brake (EPB) if the main pedal gives out. According to the recall notice, the EPB button that’s located on the lower center console, “can be pulled up and held while driving to slow the vehicle to a controlled stop.”
Stellantis also notes that the Automatic Emergency Braking system, if still active, will engage automatically in the event of a likely collision, even if the pedal collapses.
Quadrifoglio Headlamp Trouble
The second recall issued relates to the 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It’s been revealed that models built between February 2, 2024, and December 3, 2024, totaling 313, have headlights that may malfunction due to a wiring harness routing issue.
In this case, dealerships have been instructed to inspect the wheel arch liner and replace it if necessary, as well as to inspect the wire harness and re-route and/or repair it if necessary. Owners will be notified of the recall from January 28, 2026.
