• Lucid recalled 2026 Gravity SUVs over mislabelled seat covers.
  • Airbags may fail to deploy properly during a crash scenario.
  • Fault traced to Piston Interiors and discovered during assembly.

Lucid just announced a new recall on its Gravity flagship SUV. Thankfully for the brand, it only affects 66 units. In addition, the issue doesn’t come down to some major suspension component or electrical powertrain feature. Instead, it’s all about a seat cover that could potentially prevent an airbag from functioning properly in a crash.

The affected part is a seatback cover supplied by Piston Interiors and produced in September 2025. During assembly at Hyundai Transys, workers discovered that some of the covers had incorrect labels, where a driver’s seat label should have been, there was one marked for the passenger side.

It sounds trivial, but in this context, it’s more than a paperwork glitch. If a seat cover goes on the wrong side of the vehicle, it could disrupt how the side airbag deploys during a collision, obviously increasing the risk in case of an accident. Lucid estimates that roughly 39.4 percent of the 66 vehicles in question might actually have the defect.

The problem was first identified in late October when Hyundai Transys notified Lucid of a mislabelled driver-side seat backrest cover. A joint investigation traced the issue to Piston Interiors, which immediately instituted enhanced 200 percent production inspections.

By early November, Lucid had inspected its inventory and determined that 66 customer-delivered vehicles could be affected, prompting a recall on December 3.

At this stage, owners can expect communication about the recall from Lucid no later than February 6, 2026. Any incorrectly labelled seat backrest covers will be replaced free of charge. Lucid is also offering reimbursement for any pre-notification costs incurred in addressing the issue.
