• VelociRaptor 1200 F-250 keeps Ford’s 6.7-liter diesel V8.
  • Hennessey added Fox shocks and a five-inch suspension lift.
  • Carbon fiber trim appears throughout the limited-run truck

Every country has its own way of showing off. In the United States, it often involves horsepower, lifted suspension, and a flag or two. Based in Sealy, Texas, Hennessey is about as American as a car tuner can get, known for building some of the country’s most over-the-top performance machines.

To mark 250 years of American independence, the company has introduced a celebratory version of its wildest Ford F-250 yet, known as the VelociRaptor 1200 F-250.

The wild take on the standard F-250 Lariat not only looks impressive, but has the performance to match the looks. The model, capped at just 250 units, will be sold exclusively with Ford’s flagship 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8, delivering 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft (1,626 Nm) of torque in stock form.

And as you may have guessed, that “1200” in the name isn’t a horsepower figure, it’s just a reference to the truck’s stock 1,200 lb-ft of torque. It’s slightly surprising that the Texan outfit didn’t squeeze a bit more grunt from the engine, but let’s be honest, it’s hardly short on power as it is.

To make sure the VelociRaptor 1200 F-250 lives up to its name across rough terrain, Hennessey has increased ride height by five inches using a BDS suspension lift. The build also includes adjustable Fox 2.5 coilover shocks with remote reservoirs, paired with new 18-inch wheels wrapped in 37-inch off-road tires.

The front and rear bumpers of a standard F-250 have been ditched in favor of new steel parts. Hennessey has also added several carbon-fiber components.

Obviously, there’s no need to try to save a minute amount of weight with composites on a truck like this, so these carbon components are purely for aesthetics. They include carbon vents on the new hood, flared fenders, mirror caps, and a carbon panel stretching across the tailgate.

Other exterior upgrades include upgraded LED fog lights, a massive 50-inch LED light bar, fresh graphics, and a new set of badges. Power-deployable running boards with integrated LEDs are included as standard as well.

As for the cabin, it has been refreshed with black leather and Alcantara seats featuring red contrast accents. All-weather WeatherTech floor mats come standard, along with a numbered plaque for each build, complete with a full-color Stars and Stripes graphic.

How Much Does It Cost?

Ford F-250 owners who want the full VelociRaptor 1200 package will need to budget $54,500, which is nothing to sneeze at, considering it nearly doubles the price of the truck. The standard Lariat starts at $63,035, bringing the total to $117,535 before delivery fees and taxes.

The upgrades can be ordered through select Ford dealerships and are backed by Hennessey’s three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty. It’s not a truck for everyone, but for those who can afford it, it certainly makes an impression.
