• Ram marks the total lunar eclipse with two special editions.
  • They add a body-color grille, black wheels, and copper stitching.
  • The $1,995 package is offered on Rebel and Power Wagon.

Total lunar eclipses are a sight to behold and they only happen every few years. One’s reaching totality right around now and NASA says the moon will be “tinted a coppery red,” which is why it’s sometimes called a blood moon.

While the heavenly display is worth checking out, Ram is celebrating the event by introducing Lunar Editions of the 2500 Rebel and Power Wagon. They’ll go up for order later this month and feature a moon-inspired exterior that combines Ceramic Grey Clear-Coat with a Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat lower body. Buyers will also find a body-color grille, bodyside graphics, and 17- or 20-inch wheels with a black finish.

The dark theme continues inside with black Natura Plus leather seats featuring embossed Power Wagon or Rebel logos. They’re joined by Copperhead Orange contrast stitching, which is a subtle nod to the blood moon. Other highlights include a Mopar console safe and a center console badge that features a black design with satin chrome “Power Wagon” or “Rebel” lettering.

Technology And Utility Upgrades

The Lunar Editions are based on the Level 2 Equipment Group, which adds a number of upscale features including a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system, a 10.25-inch front passenger display, and a 17-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. They’re joined by a sport performance hood and a spray-in bedliner. Other highlights include a passive entry system, rain sensing wipers, and a deployable bed step.

The Power Wagon goes a step further as it adds rock rails and a 12,000 lb (5,443 kg) Warn winch. The Rebel, on the other hand, has power-deployable running boards built for city slickers.

The Lunar Edition package costs $1,995, which means the Power Wagon will set you back $86,385 while the Rebel retails for $93,885, both including destination. The former has a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 developing 405 hp (302 kW / 411 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque.

Upgrading to the Rebel rewards buyers with a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six that can tow heaven and earth thanks to its rating of 430 hp (321 kW / 436 PS) and, more importantly, massive 1,075 lb-ft (1,456 Nm) of torque.
